I cannot really comment on top bloggers manipulating their ratings ‘coz I haven’t really read them confessing that they do but like you said, you are working on bringing real change in the world and thats the bottom line..

Core blog, We Are One World Healing, will be amongst the most influencing blogs. Yes, a technorati rating is nice, but some of the ‘top’ bloggers out there even confess on their blog they ‘manipulated’ their ratings.

I love technorati to love me, but what matters most to me, is that that my blog is instrumental in manifesting real change in the world.

Why am I doing this? We, humanity and the planet needs it. There are so many environmental and social issues that need healing. We better get on with it…..

Technology really interests me but I wouldn’t be able to read about it all day long, or just the tech blogs, and I couldn’t stand to read just about culture and traditions all day long either! So I think 51-49 is *almost* balanced :)

However I’ve noticed that there are far more female compared to male who read or at least comments on my post. Is it because my blog is about my daily life, our culture and traditions and less about technical, hardware, gadgets kind of stuff. Consider I’m an IT-professional, thats kind of interesting I think :D

its a good idea of selecting our own favorite blogs or most influential blogs :) I think some popular blog should run a poll – may be Wendy or Darren could do this to get better results …. Darren’s polls could be more representative of what most bloggers think should have been on that list… that would be really interesting to see…. :)

I haven’t been in the game that long to feel the effects that much yet, but coming from you first hand, I don’t doubt for a second, such things exist. I had completely forgotten about Kathy Sierra …. that episode had just occurred when I opened my account with blogger… and I remember my decision to start a blog raised concerns within my family whether I should blog or not, but a woman’s got to do what a woman’s got to do :)

You are right, the only way to stay focused on our path is to ignore it and continue to forge ahead, and what better example than yourself…the only person stopping us from succeeding is us ….. I really admire that thought process … (i should have written this comment on your blog :))

Your post really got me thinking – I’ve known ever since I started blogging that there was a pretty healthy gender gap there, and I used to let it get me down. I’ve had to make the decision to basically ignore it – and I wrote up my post about it today. Thanks for the inspiration for writing it! :)

Also, I really don’t care if a blogger is male of female, but to be honest, I think that most of the better written blogs are written by women. Not all of them mind you, but women seem to put more time and effort into the writing, and tend to engage their audience better as well.

and the point is that more women need to read and blog for them to have some representation among these kinds of lists…

its interesting your readers/commenters are more women, I would’ve thought otherwise, because of range of articles you have and the number of times your posts get dugg :)
