That could be. I think its just a case of turning a hobby into a living, and it can get to a point where it isn’t fun anymore. Luckily for me, I was able to start enjoying it again.

I think there are three types of Techies:
1. Those that live for technology. It’s a hobby and a profession.
2. Those who work with technology. It’s a living, but they don’t want to look at a computer when they get home.
3. Those who started as #1, and end up as a #2.

I was #3, but blogging, and all of the technology that I get to play with, which is completely different from what I work with, made me love computers again.

Isn’t that a shocking surprise though? I know a lot of the techies who do not have a blog! and thats beyond me! how could you live a life working with computers alone and not expand your horizons, meeting people?

You’re right on your points, I’m actually working on a series to explain why you would want to subscribe to a web site’s RSS feed. I can’t believe how many times I explain it to some very tech savvy people.

oh those are really good points Mig….. we sort of assume everyone knows why they should subscribe to our blogs… may be there should be one day when all bloggers should write a post on this subject every one should write ONE and only one reason! what dyu say?

The question will eventually pop in your mailbox or comments no matter what you do, no matter how big and visible your “subscribe to RSS” button or link might be. It’s really funny, but it happens.

I like Pearl’s approach. Not subtle, but I think it is effective. What is amazing is that no one really asks “why should I subscribe to your RSS?” I think we should give people ideas… He he.
