Very interesting article... but.. the model you are following will make you happy as you are learning, earning working what you like and when you like... but you can not Expand that model. One thing that I do to help me manage multiple blogs is to leverage virtualization. I actually have multiple vm images with a blog or two (if I have more than one blog on an image I be sure to use different browser for each) on each image. In this way I don't have to worry about cookies, history, etc. It's just like that's my only machine and blog at that point in time. Yes, we do want to do more with less time. Reading email takes a long time especially with the easy access to us, nowadays, by many people. Time management is a valuable skill. By focusing on what you are doing and controlling the time frame is a good method and an easy one that I use. Your post here is wonderfully written. It really provides ideas to be productive. I am glad you all got something from the article that makes it all worthwhile.

@Steven Snell – planning well in advance – if I could get that to work for me, well, I’d be someone else. I’d recommend planning to anyone as the first way to try things. I’d also recommend planing some flexibility for your creativity into that plan.

@Data Entry – if those to do lists work for you then go for it. As I mentioned I find I send so long on the list I don’t get anything done. That said sometimes I’ll jot a few areas that need my attention on a notepad. Sometimes I’ll even cross a few off later that day.

Sounds like you’ve found a system that works for you. I prefer lists, but I will never make a list with more than 4-5 items on it. I always start with more items than my limit, and then I eliminate them by thinking – “What MUST be done today”? Often, it’s not nearly as much as I thought.

I really appreciate this blog. I am self-employed and do a lot of work at home also. Sometimes I get up in the morning and sit at the computer to check something and find it is 1:00 and I haven’t had anything to eat. Needless to say, it is not a productive way to work. I’m going to be more diligent about allocating time and making to do lists as you have mentioned.

Can I share my work from home experience?

I spend lots of time thinking about what I am going to post before I actually do it. While I am washing the dishes, taking my little baby on a walk or what ever activity around the house. So when the time comes for actual writing it takes me no more then a half hour.

My biggest “trick” to running multiple blogs is planning out my posts in advance. I very rarely write and publish a post in the same day. I typically know which days and which posts I’m going to use about a week in advance. That allows me to know exactly what I need to get done to keep from getting behind. Of course, this doesn’t work so well if you’re attempting to break news on your blog.

More power to you if you can keep up with more than one blog. I often find just keeping up with one to be quite challenging.
