In a few hours from now, Barak Obama will take the oath to preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the US. We all know that putting such a huge responsibility on one person’s shoulders is most probably going to lead us all to disappointment but then like Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Right now, that is exactly all of us Americans feel. Hopeful. Heck, that is how most of the people all over the world feel about Obama’s rise to Presidency. This is an amazing moment in our country’s history! We certainly have come a long way from the day Martin Luther King, Jr. gave the “I Have a Dream” address on August 28th, 1963, but there is still a long way to go.

But with leaders like Obama, who can motivate and inspire others to do the right thing, there is a hope that most people will come together to keeping America strong and proud. In the video below, you can see how some of the very famous celebrities have come together and made pledges to Barack Obama, supporting his call for change. We ALL can do the same. Make a Pledge today to make that change happen, however small it might be.

The Presidential Pledge

Because, together we will be the change that we seek.

Look at this Wikipedia article I found today listing Independence Days of so many countries. I think this day is a reminder for all of us all over the world, that for the goal of independence to be achieved, there had to be a group of people who were very optimistic about the future, who had hope and faith in the idea that their efforts towards achieving freedom would be fruitful, no matter how they achieved it, by violent or non-violent means.

Its because of their courage and perseverance that we are still able to celebrate our freedom day so many years later.

I believe we can all apply some of the same principles in our own daily lives to achieve whatever goals we set for ourselves, without losing hope and faith!

Queen Victoria ruled for more than 63 years, longer than any other British monarch. Her reign coincided with the height of the industrial revolution and was marked by significant social, economic, and technological changes in the UK. The Irish Potato Famine adversely affected Victoria’s popularity, despite the fact that she donated 5,000 pounds to the starving Irish people; why was this the case?
