Freedom

Look at this Wikipedia article I found today listing Independence Days of so many countries. I think this day is a reminder for all of us all over the world, that for the goal of independence to be achieved, there had to be a group of people who were very optimistic about the future, who had hope and faith in the idea that their efforts towards achieving freedom would be fruitful, no matter how they achieved it, by violent or non-violent means.

Its because of their courage and perseverance that we are still able to celebrate our freedom day so many years later.

I believe we can all apply some of the same principles in our own daily lives to achieve whatever goals we set for ourselves, without losing hope and faith!

hi Pearl
unfortunately Australia has not let go of the English apron strings yet…so we do not get that holiday…..the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June is our compensation …I suppose….
great post on the thinking blog….I think I would be a little unsettled if I did NOT see those very cute fairy/elf ears on you IRL

Hi Pearl, I read your guest post and commented over there, but also want to say (here!) that you brought up a good point as far as “are online friendships the same as those in person”…….I personally don’t think so, because there is so much more that goes into relating to another human being than what you can type on a keyboard. We are complex creatures, and while you could start a friendship online, I do believe that you would need to meet in person in order to qualify it on a deeper level (not meaning a romantic relationship, but just as a personal friendship).

At the same time, I have met some wonderful people online and thoroughly enjoy their views, personalities, and opinions. I don’t think it’s “bad” to build online friendships, but it’s just not the same as people you interact with face-to-face. :)

Kim – I take my elf ears off at night, but I promise to have them on when we meet :)

wow.. did you get to see that queen victoria post i had made on June 20th? may be you did comment, I dont remember… but she was only 18 at the time she took over… so its time Australia let go of it, she’s had more than enough honor in her lifetime lol

hi JoLynn – Its funny, I think I landed on your blog just recently and was admiring it :)

I think I agree with you completely that we are complex beings and I was not talking entirely about romantic relations either, just great friendships.. which of course can develop into romance in some cases too…..

friendships via pen pals has been there for eons… and people communicated via letters… so the online chats and emails had to have made it better i suppose.. don’t you think?

I am just amazed as to how much we end up revealing to our online friends and in some instances even more to them than our off-line friends!! sometimes i say :) thats why I wanted to throw this out to all to see what everyone thought!

pearl

you should voice your opinions :) let us know what you think or feel about it … I’d really appreciate it..

pearl

haha Pearl
yes I read that post…..and yes it’s time to let go of our queen Elizabeth…..and our royal family……although I don’t think I would mind Prince William being our King……my 15 year old daughter Charlotte wouldn’t mind either…(though she has her heart set on Leonardo Di Caprio at present)

pearl

OMG .. tell her Leonardo is too old for her :) we’ll settle for Prince Williams …:)
