Our thoughts and fears

We have all heard this before,  read it many times over that our thoughts create our reality,  but do we really really take a moment and think what it means? I am generally an optimist but there are times when I have had to kick myself to not fall in the trap of negativity. The negative attitudes and thoughts can go away if we can learn not to foster them so much. But often times it becomes really difficult to shun them away!

My thoughts that come closest to any sort of negativity are my fears. And the biggest fear I have is the fear of losing my loved ones, especially my aging parents, who are not without serious health problems. Once I start thinking about these things, I realize its a downward spiral from there on. I also sad dog strongly believe that our thoughts have the power to manifest themselves eventually, and that once the thought has originated in our mind and if we continue to give that thought our attention, the universe has a way of putting those thoughts into action for us. But it is really hard to get rid of such fears, since death is inevitable and we all have to go through this phenomenon with our loved ones at some point in time!

I didn’t mean for this post to be putting everyone in a sad mood, but for some reason, these feelings and thoughts have been more prominent in my mind lately than other times. And I realize its a subject that none of us wants to discuss with anyone face to face because of the intensity of emotions it can bring on. But then aren’t we all shallow to not be able to discuss the emotions that we all share? Is it a crazy thought to have? Do you have any such fears? What do you do to get rid of these fears?

PS: I’ve had to take a few days off because of an emergency. I will return soon and hopefully will bring on some happy thoughts to you all. Maybe it’s because I belong to another culture but, having negative attitudes is human and, a balanced human being has positive and negative feelings: that’s out of discussion :-)

My only tip regarding this kind of things is: do whatever your heart ask for… Just do whatever you feel you have to do to change your negative feelings into positives…

And that’s all :-)

oh Pearl ….I hope everything will be ok !!!!! (hugs)
Worrying….good question…..I conquered most of my fears (about 10 years ago) after reading How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie
I worry for 10 minutes every morning….about everything possible…that could go wrong….I analyse…. if I can do anything about the problem….if not …I let it go…..and then I don’t worry about anything for the rest of the day…
Prayer and Faith are great remedies for worry…
here is a direct link to a summary of Dale Carnegie’s book….great reading Pearl…..

Well I hope everything is okay with you? :)

As you said, sweet Pearl, these things are a part of life. I have the same fears, you know… and being really far away from my parents makes things worse.
I will not tell you that everything will be OK. Things change in life, and some are inevitable and not OK.
I will tell you however to be strong and make the best out of each day.

Love,

Mig

Mostly Pearl…I just hope your emergency resolves itself as well as it can for you. And as Mig said above…sometimes it’s not all ok especially when it comes to our parents, I’ve been there. And I’ll be here when you get back.

You might be right in that thoughts have the power to manifest themselves eventually, but also you have the power to control your thoughts. Besides; what you focus on, you’ll get more of.
If course I have fears, but try to think positive; like seeing the bottle half full and not half empty.
Hope you’ll have a good break and welcome back:-)

thank you my friends! I sure will get back to normal soon…. as if the month of August didn’t have enough reminders of heartache, we had another scare when my dad passed out a few days ago! My family didn’t inform me because I had just had a car accident this week! Don’t our loved ones just overdo it sometimes when they are trying to protect us? That is exactly what happened! and needless to say I have been over stressed and furious about this! Dad is a heart patient and is diabetic! but is fine now but the episode has completely drained us all!

thank you Kaylee, Mig, Kim, Tom and RennyBA… I really appreciate your thoughts and concerns!!

Kim.. I have that book by Dale… and used to read it when I was in college!!! but thanks for reminding me of it! I really do need to read it again!! thanks

RennyBA … your comment about being able to control our thoughts did hit home! Sometimes we need only a slight distraction to break us out of the pattern!

Mig and Tom… thanks for being there for me! you are right! its just not okay to KNOW that our parents are not going to be there one day! this is so inevitable and I really hate it! I am trying to be strong but also feel selfish sometimes in trying to feel strong! its a weird feeling!
