Keeping You Posted

I won a free ad place

A few days ago I participated in a blogging tips game called ‘use a letter, share a tip‘ at Worknplay where Ritu asked readers to provide a tip from A to Z. At the time I didn’t even know that Ritu had offered perks to participate as I didn’t read all of the instructions, one of which was 125 x 125 banner ad space toa randomly picked winner. Well, to my pleasant surprise, I won the ad space and the banner is on display at Ritu’s blog. The banner was developed by Mayank Gupta of ReviewSaurus. You might remember Mayank from his guest post here Should we drop the Paid Text Links or not.

Here is the banner that Mayank put together. What dyu say?

CLIQ to discontinue

cliq2.jpg

I received an email from CLIQ today that they will be discontinuing their service as of Jan 31st. CLIQ was originally created by Offermatica, Inc. as a way to research and explore the role of content merchandising in Social Media. As of last month, Offermatica has been acquired by Omniture .

I am really sorry to see the beautiful widget go, especially because of this widget, it was so easy to visit the superb blogs of Tad of SEO 2.0, Fred Peters of Newest on the Net, Lid of BlogWell, and Dicky of TechSnack.

I hope we can keep up with each other’s blogs even after they take away the widget, because I will miss them for sure. In the past months, seeing them on my sidebar here felt they were a part of this blog.

Talk about attachment.

And Now, heres something for you.

Since I will miss CLIQ widget and those lovely faces in my sidebar, I thought of filling up the void, umm empty space with your banner. So, here’s the deal.

If you can tell me in the comments where the heading of this post came from, I’ll enter your name in the draw for a free 125 x 125 ad banner placement for the entire month of February.

“…where the heading of this post came from…”

Does it mean the title of your post — Keeping You Posted?

Err. The Australian Mail Redirection Service? :D

pearl

that was too easy to look up on the net eh? ;) yes, the title..

teeni

I have no idea where that originated. But that’s okay – I don’t have an ad to display anyhow. But I WILL be looking forward to finding out the correct answer. So, um, keep me posted? LOL

Beats me. Seems a fairly well used phrase. If I recall from my scant history knowledge one was kept posted if you had failed to be promoted and your time with the army ended but there was a shortage. They would update you regularly to keep you posted.

Similar usage for keeping horses from running away.

Sueblimely

Your title came from generated php code because of the command “<a href=”” title=”…….” in your WordPress index file :-)

Skellie (wag) writes a regular post on Problogger with the title of Keeping You Posted.

It is also the name of an “interactive online journal with pictures, audio and video to keep you in touch with friends and family wherever you and they are.” http://www.keepingyouposted.org

Hey Matt – I hadn’t heard of those references but good to know.. Im not sure if that was the origin though… :)

@Sueblimely – you are something :) I saw you on the mybloglog widget and thought you might have gotten it … so yes, you are right on.. Skellie’s posts on problogger it is…. and you are thinking the way I was thinking too [us women are weird, aren’t we LOL]

@Matt

When I saw Pelf’s comment and then yours, I knew I had made a booboo…. in the way I asked the question. it was misleading in that I didn’t mean to say – give me the origin of the expression – I had just read one of Skellie’s posts, and should have said, where do we see it used often in the blogosphere … my bad!

Oh, teeni actually found the origin of the phrase ‘keep posted’
here: http://www.answers.com/topic/keep-posted :) thanks teeni..

Ritu - Work N Play

Hey Pearl, thanks for the link :-). The banner created by Mayank is actually pretty neat.

Having an abysmal memory, although I read the articles, I had to do a search to find it – not hard to find something that appears on Problogger though :-)

Thank you Pearl, it does make me sad too.

I’ve just spent the past four weeks moving (read frustrating myself) BlogWell from .com to self hosted – primarily to add the Cliq box – and I get the same e-mail. Not happy, I am. I much prefer Cliq over other options – need to start looking for something else…I too will miss my Cliq family
